Juggling Flaming Babies: How to do it All
Short answer? You can't. Which explains why I have so woefully neglected this blog. Between classes, my senior thesis/project, and, oh, you know, preparing for the entire rest of my life (no biggie), writing for "fun" seems to fall by the wayside.
But should it?
I think I've said it myself in a previous post: a writer writes. If I want to call myself a writer, I've got to find time to get in some quality scribbling every day. Ironically, the busier I get and the less time I have for writing, the less confident I feel about my identity and future as a writer, which makes me even more panicky and stressed. (Wait, is that irony? I should definitely write a post about that poor, misused word. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Alanis.)
Why is it that the things that really matter--following your passion, working toward your dreams--are always the first to fall by the wayside in favor of things which, let's be honest, mean nothing? Like grades. Once you're out of school, it doesn't matter if you earned that degree with straight As or straight Cs.
Don't tell any of my profs I said that, though.
Anyway, the long and short of it is that I am adding this flaming baby back to my juggling pile. I'm going to blog twice a week, minimum, and I mean it! (Hear that, future Emily? We're serious about this!) So strap in, stay tuned, and look forward to more educational tidbits and pointless rants.
Yeah, you know you like it like that.

Yay! Glad to hear it! It's so true...I don't write (or photograph, for that matter) anywhere near as often as I would like to/should, especially if I ever want to make a career out of either one. But a blog is so helpful in at least getting that little bit written, because it can be complete within 1,000 words or less.
ReplyDeleteI love the flaming babies metaphor, by the way.
