Life was a nightmare before the Institute.

Daisy Li doesn’t regret killing her uncle. She doesn’t regret getting locked up. The tests aren’t great, and the algae sludge they call food is disgusting, but at least she’s not alone anymore. At least the people hurting her now aren’t the people who are supposed to love her. She has friends, and she has pills, and when everything falls apart, she has her freedom. It may be the end of humanity, but it’s not the end of the world.

There are worse things than oblivion.
